As we sometimes encounter abandoned or wounded cats, it will be a great help if there are some fosterers who can help take care of these cats temporarily while we find a permanent home for them. In this way, we can be able to save more cats by having more space to accomodate them. Also we can provide undivided care and attention for the cats with more people helping out.

Duration of foster care and number of cats to look after are totally up to the fosterer.

Even for a just a few days it will be great as every person's effort counts!

We are currently looking for a fosterer for Fighter. He is a fantastically well-mannered cat. Very easy to look after, will not create a mess or make noise. Gets along quickly with other cats, will not get into any fight at all. Very friendly with humans. All he wants is a bit of your time to care for him, stroke him. Sometimes he looks at you with such sorrowful eyes like he has been through so much... that make you feel so sorry for him...

It doesn't matter how long you can take care of him. It will be a great way to help each other out.

Mew Mew Adopted!

We are pleased to inform that Mew Mew has been adopted!!!

She is now known as Nora, as named by the adopter.

However, this adoption is on trial, as this is to ensure that their current cat can get along with Nora. But given Nora's temperament she is able to mingle with other cats after a few days. So it shouldn't be a problem (=

Very pleased with Mr. K and his brother, we could tell they really provide a very cat-friendly and comfortable environment for their cats. Lots of toys and entertainment, some mortified by themselves. No wonder Nora seems so comfy in their house in such a short time. Keep playing and lying around! Also, they are very meticulous about important objects that pose as hazards. Most of all, we can tell they love cats a lot. Treat them very well. We trust Nora is in good hands.

Good News

Fighter is eating today !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He had lunch and just had dinner, ate finish the portion of canned food we gave (^O^)

Think his gum is improving! We are so happy to see him eat haha.. cos it means he can recover much quicker... He is completely not drooling anymore, and no mucus at his nose. Yay!

We just went to visit a small kitten which has passed away....... May it rest in peace in heaven...... He will always have a special place in our heart.

Fighter's condtion

Today, Fighter doesn't salivate like he previously did. Its a relieve cos it shows at least his gum is improving. However, he is still not taking food... We hope that as his gum gradually improves, he can start to consume food. He doesn't like the medicine but no choice! We have to feed him so that he can recover.

Vet Trips

Today we made 2 trips to the vet.

First is in the morning, after we received an emergency call to bring a kitten down, due to some injuries. He looks in pain and kept shivering. Poor kitten, only 2 months old to endure all these. Hope he gets better soon! We are touched to see that the owners are so concern with him. They don't mind carrying him and holding closely to protect him, even though he is not cleaned up (due to the injuries). Thats the power of love.

In the afternoon we brought Marsiling Cat, now known as Fighter, to the vet. The doctor diagnosed him to be suffering from gum infection... which makes his gum to swell and painful to eat food. He says its quite bad, but not severely bad. There could be other complications internally like kidney problem is possible, due to his old age. But that has to be checked out in a hospital. He estimated him to be around 9 years old. Wow! He is really such a fighter cos, in the clinic he made quite a lot of struggle and running around. The doctor says he is sick, but so strong! Now thats our Fighter! ^.^

He was given 2 shots of injection - 1 to stop the swelling, and 1 is something like an antibiotics. Medicine is antibiotics in powder form supposed to mix water to form solution and let Fighter consume.

We are now monitoring him at home, would feed him the antibiotics medication everyday and also force-feed food to him as he needs nutrients to recover. Hopefully his condition gets better! And starts eating well (=

Sterilisation for Your Precious Pets

Hello!

Here are some important things you must take note of, when you bring your pets to sterilisation.

Do not feed your pet from the evening onwards until the operation ended.

This is vey important as if you do not abide this, there may be fatal consequences. There are some pets which died after the surgery due to the owner's feeding before the big op.
The operation will be held at a Vet's clinic in the morning, and ends by that evening.

Yup after the operation pls feed him/her like you always do!

The Procedures

Understanding how each spay/neuter procedure is carried out will give you a better idea of what to expect during the recovery period following surgery.

 

Neutering Males

The procedure is relatively simple for male pets. Removal of the testicles, also referred to as castration, is necessary to prevent reproduction. Under anaesthetic, an incision is made into the scrotum, the testicles are removed and the vessels are sutured. The scrotum is then stitched/glued closed, and the patient will usually receive an antibiotic injection to help prevent infection.


Recovery time is fairly quick with most males acting like their old selves within 48 hours, although the site may remain tender a bit longer. Dissolving sutures and surgical glue are normally used for this procedure, so a follow up visit usually isn't necessary unless there are signs of infection or rupture.

 

Spaying Females

The procedure for spaying females is considered major surgery just like a human hysterectomy. Under general anesthesia, an incision is made into the female's abdomen and the complete uterus and ovaries are removed. Dissolving sutures are used internally and sometimes externally, but often the outer incision is closed with surgical staples that must be removed approximately ten days after the surgery, necessitating a follow up visit with the vet.


The female will receive an antibiotic injection immediately after surgery and will also receive antibiotic tablets to be given during the remaining recovery period. Females take longer to recover from this procedure, usually about fourteen days, but the surgical site may remain tender some time.

Post Surgical Signs of Infection

Once you take your pet home, it's crucial to follow your veterinarian's care instructions to the letter. Even under the best of circumstances, pets neutering and spaying can lead to post surgical infections, so be sure to inspect the incision twice daily during the healing period to be certain it remains clean and uninfected.
Warning signs to watch for include:

• Redness, irritation, and/or swelling at the incision
• An excessively hot feeling around the scar
• Bleeding or foul discharge at the incision
• A temperature greater than 102 degrees Fahrenheit
• Listless behavior more than 24 hours after surgery
• Pet refuses food and water
• Pet has difficulty relieving itself

If your pet displays any of these signs, report it to your vet immediately.

This charming chap is Hua Hua's brother, also known as the "leader" or "muffia" of the pack. Playful yet sweet, he also has his side of gentleness. He is the type who would lay down beside you, looking at you quietly and contentedly. Very quiet, will not make much noise or disturb you. Do not scratch. A very friendly cat. Likes to sleep on your stomach or thighs, he trusts people a lot.

Skinny Cat is growing fatter by the days. Will upload photos of him as he grows chubbier!

Today when we fed him, again he kept following us. He cannot eat in peace as everytime he eats a bit, he will look at us and make sure we are still there beside him. If we attempt to walk away, or if there is some slight movement, he would quickly run and follow us. In the end we need to take off our shoes and sneak away haha. So sweet right! I think he is thankful that there is finally someone who actually cares for him? What a pity that we cannot keep him due to space constraint. Please adopt or foster him if you can!

Kitty is able to eat some biscuits now. His fur condition has improved and totally normal now!

Appetite of Poor Fellow from Marsiling is not improving ): will continue to monitor...

One question we got from one reader: is Baby and Kitty from the same mother?
It appears that they look quite the same in terms of colours.

They are not from the same mum. Although they are both found at Bt Panjang, the locations they are found are very far apart. Also the gestation or the length of pregnancy of a cat averages 64 days. It is generally between 62 and 67 days or about nine or ten weeks. So its not possible for 2 weeks old kitty and 2 months old Baby to be conceivd by the same mother.

As you can see, poor fellow from Marsiling, is like waiting for the lift... who is he waiting for? The aunty who took care of him for so long. He is loyal in the sense that although he cannot eat anything now, he is willing to wait for his friend unconditionally, and not bcos of food. He waits not one or two days but every evening for hours.

It touches me to know that even a cat can be so loyal and grateful to his friend. We should learn from his spirit !

He is SO skinny! Suspected to have starved for many days.

3 days ago, on the day we found the 2 weeks old kitten - we also found this cat. It seems like this area has a few abandoned and starving cats. He is very afraid of humans initially.

We are monitoring him and providing food to him twice everyday. If his condition doesnn't improve, we may be getting de-worm pills for him.

Just fed him breakfast today. These 2 days he has been following us and kept meow-ing, like asking us to bring him home. When we tried to walk away, he would run to us and hug and hold on to our leg. So sweet!
